Oral and injectable: Type 2 diabetes is due to Insulin resistance (inability to drive glucose into muscle and fat), lack of insulin, excess glucose from liver, et al. Most common pills in us are metformin and Actos (pioglitazone) (insulin-sensitizing) and sulfonylureas/glinides (insulin-secreters) and dpp-4 inhibitors (eg januvia). Injection rxs are Insulin (treat deficiency) or glp-1 agonists (multiple effects to lower glucose).
