None aside from food: A normal person (without biotin deficiency) eating a well-balanced diet can be just fine without buying additional biotin supplements. The nih reports: no recommended dietary allowance (rda) for biotin; but adequate intakes for biotin are 7mcg for infants, 8mcg for children aged 1-3 yrs, 12mcg for 4-8 yrs, 20mcg for 9-13 yrs, 25mcg for 14-18 yrs, 30mcg for >18 yrs, 35mcg for breastfeeding women.

High dose: It is a high dose and has been recommended by some dermatologists and alternate medicine practitioners for hair loss at dose of 2000 to 10000 micrograms..It is considered a safe supplement with minimal side effects like nausea, pain, stress;anxiety, diarrhea and chest pain. And rarely itching.

Probably: Did you know that biotin is a "B complex vitamin" but it is also known as Vitamin H? Confusing I know, but beside the point. The adequate adult dose of biotin is 30 mcg per day, but up to 2500mcg per day for hair/nail health. I wouldn't recommend more than that. Too much biotin will cause slower release of insulin, skin rashes, lower vitamin C and B6 levels and high blood sugar levels.
