I was diagnosed with bv. i took metronidazole 500 and 0.75 gel for 7 days. my symptoms tripled! now it hurts to defecate and bowel has a weird smell.

Go back to doctor: This, as you are already aware, is not normal. You need to be seen and managed appropriately. This cannot be done over the internet. Good luck.

GI or GU: If all your symptoms are gastrointestinal then that could simply be as a result of the treatment, metronidazole. Bv does not cause gastrointestinal symptoms, only vaginal symptoms. Might want to revisit the treating doctor if symptoms are severe.
