In a 2009 letter to General Mills, the FDA says that statements made on Cheerios packaging, “clinically proven to help lower cholesterol” make the product a drug under federal law. However the data supports that Cheerios helps lower cholesterol as "part of a healthy diet". Better than a cheese omelet with a side of bacon
