A member asked:

My wife is 36 weeks pregnant. usg shows 144 bpm, cord around neck, low abdominal size, 2.2kg. are any of these causes for early delivery with cesarean section?

Not necesarily: You cite a heart rate and size in the normal range.A cord wrap is common and reason for good monitoring during labor.I have seen as many as 5 cord neck wraps in a kid eventually delivered c-section, the monitor giving ample warning to do so with good outcome. The obs i work with do stress tests if there is concern about placental blood flow before labor. If they pass ; kids growing they wait.

Nuchal cord: This usually resolves by itself before delivery or can be handled at the time of delivery. Talk with your ob.
