A member asked:

What should ivtake as a medicine for a urinary tract infection.now i started taking effervescent granules urinary alkalinizer 4 times a day.is good?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

UTI treatment: You need to have your urine cultured to see what bacterium (b) is causing your uti. Starting an antibiotic (a) without knowing what b caused your UTI and what a it's sensitive to is not a good practice. Taking granules to make your urine less acidic is also not a good idea. Bacteria are less likely to grow in a acidic environment. Making your urine less so will do nothing to help combat your uti.
