A member asked:

What does 'moderate amount of free fluid in the uterine cavity' mean on a ct report? history of pelvic pain and possible cervical mass.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: A ct isn't usually the best test to look at the gynecologic organs such as the uterus or uterine cavity. We can only notice general things like fluid in the uterus or large masses. Most of the time the fluid is normal and represents blood products due to menstruation, but strictly speaking we cannot know for sure so we say "free fluid." an ultrasound is usually helpful if you haven't had one yet.
