Head banging: Head banging in children this age is actually normal and common.. It is sometimes attributed to teething discomfort. But typically there is no underlying cause. I know it looks scary, but it is generally of no concern. Make sure he is safe and not in an area where he can hurt himself. Eventually this behavior will stop on its own.
