Watch for worsening: If the flashes increase in severity, especially if they are accompanied by new floaters in the vision, you should see an on-call ophthalmologist, if possible. Most of the time, flashes and floaters represent a vitreous detachment only, but you want to rule out a retinal tear or detachment.
