Screening test: Not an ultimate test, but rather a screen for integrity of propriaceptive function, including spinal cord, and peripheral nerve abnormalities, mainly, and useful for brainstem, and cerebellar problems. One keeps eyes closed for merely a few seconds, and subtle swaying may or may not be scored abnormal, depending on judgement of physician at time. Romberg is part of exam, not be all ; end all.
