Allergies: This is usually caused by allergies. Try a non-sedating antihistamine like loratadine and see if this gets rid of the problem. It will not affect your vision.

Eye discharge /grit: Doubt causes nearsightedness as that is due to the eyeball shape. Discharge may be due to chronic allergies , dry eye ( which give sensation of reduced vision), partially open eyes at nigh (lagophthalmos) tor duct blockage. Would start with elevating head of bed when sleeping. consider Systane eye drops , zyrtec (cetirizine) ( if dry eye may dry it more so then stop). F/U with ophthalmologist
