Congestion: Ear infections are much less common in adults than they are in children. In many cases, this kind of sensation is due to congestion of the eustachian tubes, which connect the ear to the back of the throat. Antibiotics are useless for this problem; decongestants are far more effective. But if decongestants don't work, you should see a doctor.
