A member asked:

My daughter have some boils on her neck and they itches when she itch them they burst and her skin peal the boils have a water liquid inside.. can i use antibiotic powder to get rid of them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe not.: Sometimes, minor skin infections can resolve with the help of powders containing antibiotics such as neomycin, bacitracin, or polymyxin. In situations where there are blisters forming first, and then break later (and is not viral like chicken pox), a patient usually needs oral antibiotics such as Keflex (cephalexin), Bactrim, etc... Sometimes, a cream called Bactroban (mupirocin) is effective.
