??: I assume you had surgery on your leg ( intramedullary rod... Locked w/ screws)4 years ago.If you have pain and drainage from your incision then see your orthopedic surgeon. You may have osteomyelitis ( infection in the bone ). This usually requires irrigation / debridement of the leg w/ removal of hardware and IV antibiotics.

Was there any test : Did the doctor order any x-rays or any other test to determine the cause of the exudate? Any cultures to see what is growing? May have bone infection. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) might not the be effective antibiotics and maybe an IV antibiotic is needed. You should definitely not wait too much longer and ask your doctor to do further evaluation.
