When someone sprains: An ankle the sprain is usually to the lateral collateral ligaments. Not to a tendon. The peroneals could be sprained in addition. I am not sure what you mean by rubbery and lumpy as I have never in 19 years of practicing heard that. I would recommend ice, and an ankle brace. Consider physical therapy, and see a foot/ankle doc. Good luck.
