Constipation: No she isn't constipated. We all retain small amounts of stool even tho we have normal bowel movements

Yes.: Constipation is a common problem in young children.What may appear to be regular bowel movements may just be overflow and not complete emptying.It may be prudent to see her Pediatrician to place her on a laxative and bowel retraining program and also to check her for any urinary tract infection.

Hard to say: The kid who makes 8 oz of poo/day but empties only 7oz, will eventually become backed up. Stool that is silhouetted by small clusters of bowel gas, reveal gas production by bowel germs. If that silhouetting shows the colon to be distended, and full, it may relate to slow transit constipation. This is a common problem in kids and often takes years to resolve.
