Not related to the: People, your eye may be watering because the surface is dry, try some lubricating eye drops. If still waters the tear drainage system may be plugged up. See your eye care doctor.

No: Watery eyes serve a protective function--you may have allergies to what is in the room when you lie down.

Irritation: We call this "reactive epiphora" it is a natural reflex of the eye to stimulation and irritation. The best way to combat this is to use sunglasses. Yes, please don't look at the sun!

Why do my eyes get watery whenever i get nervous?

Parasympathetic : Your eyes are very sensitive and responsive to various internal and external environmental factors including ambient light levels and autonomic nervous system stimulation. When you get nervous you can deplete your adrenaline levels or you can also reduce ph within your system which can have the effect of increasing parasympathetic nervous system (pns) tone. The pns stimulates tear formation.

A 32-year-old member asked:
Is it normal for my eyes to get watery when I look at a computer screen for a long time?

You bet!: When we stare at something for a long time (computer screen, book, wall) we decrease the amount of blinking per minute. Blinking pushes water on the eye (reverse windshield wiper) to coat it. When you don't blink, the eye dries and sends a signal to the tear gland to produce more tears in order to protect the eye. It is a sign that you are staring too long. Try a break or artificial tears.
