Not digesting calcium? can somebody have trouble digesting the calcium supplements she takes?

Yes: Calcium carbonate requires stomach acid for it to dissolve. People who are older don't make as much stomach acid. People who take meds for reflux or ulcers will also make less acid. Calcium citrate does not require stomach acid to dissolve.
