Need followup: There is certainly some soreness and pain that can sometimes be expected, even 8 weeks after an ankle fracture. That being said, you would definitely want follow up with your doctor to make sure your fracture is in fact healed and it is ok for you to be walking on it. Walking on a fracture prematurely may cause problems.

Ask your doctor: Some pain is to be expected as you wean yourself off the crutches. Talk to your doctor as to how much is to be expected, and how much time you must give the process. Increased pain, swelling or crepitus should be reported promptly.

Pain usually : Indicates something is wrong. I would double check with your doctor taking care of you.
