Not needed: Patients with mitral valve prolapse do not need premedication before dental treatment. Talk to your dentist, primary care or cardiologist for more information about this.

AHA recommendations: According to the latest american heart association recommendations, antibiotic prophylaxis is no longer considered necessary for mvp. However, your own dentist and cardiologist are responsible for your care and should be consulted as they know your complete medical and dental history.
