Prolapse : Mvp is not necessarily symptomatic. Your chest ache may well have a musculoskeletal or no cardiac cause.

Probably not: The symptoms of mitral valve prolapse are usually related to the valve being leaky - usually shortness of breath or palpitations. If you have leaky valve ( regurgitation) that is severe and for a long time, you can develop an irregular rhythm or high pressures in the lung. It is good to intervene before you develop symptoms, but only if you have severe regurgitation ( shown by an echocardiogram).
