Sounds like a : Radiculopathy ( nerve pain ).Could be from pressure anywhere along the nerve from above the area of pain/numbness.See your doctor if persists.Danger signs are weakness in the affected leg and persistant numbness.Also watch out for incontinence.

Nerve/back issue: Numbness, tingling, burning and electrical sharp shooting pain can only be caused by nerve tissue. Since your symptoms are limited to one side and involve your "leg" you must consider a back issue. See your local orthopedist and start with x-rays.
