Not likely: Some tumors can be seen on plain x-ray but ct and MRI are much better for looking at the kidneys.

No: X-rays will not typically show renal masses. They can show calcification a like in kidney stones and occasionally in other renal masses. The best tests for renal tumors are ultrasound and ct. Mri is also useful but more time consuming and expensive.
