Is it normal to be asked to take antibiotics only about an hour before a prostate biopsy? thought you needed about a full day.

Yes: Starting preventative antibiotics 1 or 2 hours before a prostate biopsy would not be unusual. Longer antibiotic treatment would only be needed if bacteriuria was found pre op.
