A choice: The surgeon will want to empty the space to advance approximation and healing. If very bloody, then aspiration of hematoma can reduce infection and bruising. Several surgical decisions. Jp are closed system, in contrast to an open external drain.

Drains not for all: And are used at the discretion of your surgeon. If there is a large cavernous space, drains are usually employed. If there is not, then you do not need them.
