Avoid overeating, smoking, eating just before strenuous exercise, high fat foods (fried food, cream sauces), spicy foods, acidic foods irritating an inflamed esophagus (oranges, tomatoes), eating less than 3 hours before lying down, being overweight. Chamomile/ fennel tea, ginger candy, apple products help.
