pain: Mindfulness meditation, specific stretches guided by a physical therapist; constant observation to and maintaining good body posture; when standing in place, rest one foot on something 4-6inches above the ground; when lying down on your back, rest knees on multiple pillows with knees bent; no heavy lifting; get evaluated for traction; ; of course, follow medication ; any other md recommendations.

Numerous choices.: Heating pad or ice pack, no heavy lifting ; use knees and hips instead of lower back, no sleeping on the abdomen , no standing or sitting for long periods of time, no strenuous exercise, physician-recommended exercises to strengthen the back, depending on the location of the herniated disc in coordination with a chiropractor, pain medication as prescribed by your doctor. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not enough.
