Numerous choices.: Heating pad or ice pack, no heavy lifting ; use knees and hips instead of lower back, no sleeping on the abdomen , no standing or sitting for long periods of time, no strenuous exercise, physician-recommended exercises to strengthen the back, depending on the location of the herniated disc in coordination with a chiropractor, pain medication as prescribed by your doctor. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not enough.
