1-2 months, usually.: It is not uncommon to find placenta previa in the first half of pregnancy, but it usually resolves spontaneously as the pregnancy advances and the lower uterine segment develops. Avoid intercourse, strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and all nsaids/ssris for now - and follow-up with an ultrasound at 19 and 28 weeks to see if it has resolved. If it persists, a prelabor cesarean section will be needed.

Can be normal: At 15 weeks gestations, a lot of women have placentas that cover their cervix. Likely your doctor recommended that you and your significant other refrain from intercourse or orgasm. Sometimes, as the uterus grows, the placenta 'gets out of the way' as it were. Sometimes not. You'll likely have a formal obstetrical ultrasound at 18-20 weeks, check then to see if still previa. Good luck!
