A member asked:

If you have an inflamed esophagus and stomach but have no ulcers or bacteria of anykind is it ok to eat veggies and fruit like tomatoes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Esophagitis: This depends upon the source of the inflammation. Bacterial infection in these circumstances is usually not the issue, but rather there is the potential for viruses and yeasts to produce inflammation. Or this may simply be due to reflux. Eating various foods may irritate these tissues, but you should first be seen and evaluated by a GI doctor.
