Helicobacter pylori: Common infection worldwide. More in lower socioeconomics. Transmission not known if food, water, people; decreased with better refrigeration. Commonest cause of ulcers of stomach and duodenum; can be colonized for decades (they like acidic environment, adapt to it). Can be associated with stomach cancer, lymphoma. Can be rx'd with antibiotics and antiulcer meds (and should be in most people).
