Yes: Several organisms cause or contribute to skin ulceration. Pyoderma gangrenosum is one. There are multiple therapies in wound care for difficult chronic ulcers. Okay to ask for referral to wound care center. Take friend with you to appointment. Be Well.

There are many: bacteria that can get into an open wound. You need a culture of the wound to determine correct treatment . Until infection treated wound will never heal!
