Good question...: Assuming she'll be sedated, i don't know i would go in to detail about the nature of the tests she's having. She won't know it's happening ; won't remember it. I would instead, focus on the parts of the day that might cause her anxiety. Going to the hospital, seeing strange people, new sights ; sounds. Talk about why she's going, how she'll fall asleep, ; how you'll be there when she wakes up.

Child life: My best advice is to have the procedure done in a center where there is a child life department with trained child life specialists. Child life specialists are trained to explain hospitals, procedures, testing, and health problems to children in ways that are helpful and meaningful.
