I have a large red spot in the white part of my eye. does it need any special attention? it does not hurt and my vision seems the same.

depends: If new, this is likely a subconjunctival hemorrage - a small seepage of blood from a vessel in the conjunctiva. If this has been there for many years, it is likely to be a minor vascular anomaly of no significance. These can be mentioned during your next routine eye examination.
