What causes a tight, crampy to the touch feeling on my left side , just below the ribcage, coud having copd have anything to do with it?

typically no: Typically COPD which is an airway problem does not cause a crampy sensation on the outside of your rib cage. With that being said there are multiple muscle fibers between the rib cage that can get inflammed and contribute. Sometimes this is more of a musclular or tissue problem or even a skin problem unrelated. Get it checked out particularly if it is not getting better.

Multiple causes: You should be examined by a physician to check and make sure that your liver, spleen or kidney are not enlarged. Physical exam is often adequate but some imaging like ultrasound exam or ct scan may be needed. Severe COPD can cause muscle cramp in the muscles of the abdominal or chest wall.
