Psychotherapy: A combination of cognitive-behavior therapy and family anxiety management seems to be the best approach. Pharmacotherapy utilizing Imipramine also provides some benefit.

Separation anxiety: Separation anxiety sometimes appears at certain stages of development in children . It can come and go very quickly. If separation anxiety becomes a chronic problem I suggest you find a child psychologist who has experience with this issue. There are techniques that work to reduce the anxiety and provide the child with the necessary tools to gain control over their thoughts and feelings.
