Antacid: For acute attack, antacids may help, by neutralizing the acidic content. For chronic, see md. Diet and lifestyle imporrtant part of rx. Make sure not cardiac cause, if any risk factors for heart disease. Otc drugs like Pepcid (famotidine) ac, Prilosec otc may help acute if recurrent or constant must see md to make sure not more serious causes. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, fried, coffee, spicy, acidy, lying down.

Lifestyle measures.: Smaller more frequent meals. Elevate head of bed from the floor. Don't eat within four hours of going to bed. Limit citrus fruits, chocolate, caffeine, tomato products, smoking and peppermint. Lose weight if you're overweight. Don't smoke.
