Spicy food: Spicy foods such as salsa and acid food such as lemon can cause stomach acid to back up up through the stomach valve into your esophagus. That can casue pain, burning sensation or bad taste in throat. Avoid eating late at night. Caffeine alcohol and nicotine can also make it worse.
