A member asked:

Rapid hiv test accurate? tested oraquick, clearview, unigold all after 6 months and negative. body aches for year. do i need to retest or can i trust?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV Nucleic acid : A negative antibody test, like oraquick, at 6 months is a good sign but it does not rule out HIV infection. To be sure you should see your doctor for nucleic acid test (pcr), if that is negative at six months it would be more definitive. See this site for more info. http://aids.gov/hiv-aids-basics/prevention/hiv-testing/hiv-test-types/.
