Dependence: There is the current perspective on long term benzodiazepine pharmacotherapy that it can lead to dependence and poor outcomes in a significant number of people who receive it. However, every patient is unique and i would discuss your concerns about the direction of your treatment with your prescribing physician. There may be a way to experience adequate symptom relief in a way that is sustainable.

habit forming: These types of habit forming, and will potentially cause an addiction if used for prolonged periods. Short term or intermittent use is unlikely to cause dependance.
