Thyroid Hormone: Hashimoto's disease is autoimmune destruction of the thyroid gland. The thyroid produces thyroid hormone which controls metabolism. Too much or too little can cause problems like constipation, diarrhea, heat or cold intolerance, weight loss or gain, skin ; hair changes as well as cardiac arrhythmias and mental status changes.
