likely transient: The catheter enters a femoral blood vessel in the inguinal region, where there are cutaneous nerves providing sensation. Since the insertion involves a small incision, the local nerves can be temporarily injured, but should recover fully within 4 weeks. Check with your doctor if this does not reverse.

common: This probably represents bruising of the nerve next to the artery. If the leg feels fine otherwise, and there is no significant pain or swelling, this is likely to be benign and last only a few days to weeks.
