A member asked:

Is it rare that a baby born at 31 weeks has no breathing issues, or does a baby born this early almost always have issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Most do, some don't: The frequency of breathing issues for a 31 wk premi exceed 75%, which vary in intensity. Some that do not appear to have problems initially will do so in the first several days. Some that were under a good deal of stress during pregnancy may accelerate their lung maturity.
