Paronychia: You can try putting a topical antibiotic ointment on it, like polysporin, (bacitracin and polymyxin) twice a day for a few days. If the swelling, tenderness increases or if it has pus in it, then you should probably be seen by the doctor for oral antibiotics or drainage.
