Unknowen: This is a hard one, because we don't know which nail is red inflamed and shiny and which one has a fungus on it. They're probably not related but if they are the same toe consider acute athletes foot. Otherwise see your local area podiatrist. I hope you're not taking pills for just one fungal toenail?

BACTERIAL: It sounds like you have a bacterial infection, in addition to your fungal infection. You should return to your doctor; they may put you on antibiotics. Sincerely, Dr. Latva
