What are the markers for inactive carrier state of hepatitis b?

HBeAg -, anti-HBe +: When evaluating hbv status, hep b antigens and antibodies for the surface, core, and the e protein are evaluated. Carriers lack the hep b e antigen (hbeag negative) and have hep b e antibodies (anti-hbe positive). For carrier status it is also recommended to monitor alt (a liver enzyme) and hbv dna load to differentiate from hbeag-negative chronic hbv.
