My fiancee is pregnant, and she's a hepatitis b "carrier", is it going to affect our baby? is she going to have hepatitis too?

Prevent transmission: If mom has hepatitis b, make sue the OB and pedi know. Transmission can be prevented by not using a scalp clip to monitor baby's heart in labor. More importantly, baby needs 2 shots at birth: ivig and first hep b vaccine. Breastfeeding is okay if baby gets these.

Hep B carrier: A hepatitis b carrier has a chronic infection with the hepatitis virus, without proper preventative measures a baby born to a hep b positive mom is at risk for infection. Hepatitis immunoglobulin and vaccine should be given soon after birth.
