Chronic anxiety: Anxiety can cause many physical symptoms, including in your respiratory system. Shortness of breath and rapid, shallow breathing are common along with feelings of chest pressure and even pain. Prolonged anxiety symptoms are not "normal" and do need medical evaluation.
