probably not: Sciatica refers to symptoms of radicular pain, from an irritated nerve root in your spine. An MRI usually would pick that up. You may have a condition called piriformis syndrome, which mimics sciatica. You should undergo an evaluation by a qualified pain management physician to determine if that is the case.

EMG/NCS: can be very helpful in determining issues that may still be from the spine if MRI is not that conclusive. Also it could be a peripheral nerve injury or neuropathy that could cause his pain and the EMG will be helpful in determining this.
