See a Dr.: Knee pain in children can be caused by: rapid growth, trauma, overuse and dietary deficiencies. Knee pain in children that wakes them up at night is more serious. It can be caused by joint infection, bone infections, autoimmune problems, or cancer. Please take your child to see a DR. They can examine the knees and do tests that will help them determine what the underlying problem is.

Agree: I agree with Dr. Kratzberg that this should be evaluated by her doctor. If it is occurring on both knees (even one at a time), it is less likely to be anything serious, but it is still important to be sure by having her examined.
