Your doctor can figr: Your md can easily figure this out from your history. The common causes are alcohol especially excessive use on an empty stomach, use of Aspirin like drugs like Motrin and peptobismol. Gastritis heals well fast with use of good antacids, so do not get hung up on the cause. Get treated quickly and it will be soon gone and you will be well, provided you avoid the use /abuse of above irritants.
